The Boys and Girls Club of Calgary as partnered with the Prince's Trust to run "Get Into". Get Into is a unique employability program for youth (18+). It provides work-ready youth with relevant professional skills, and a work experience program. This program results in an increase in core skills such as confidence, reliability, communication, leadership, and working with others.
Get Into begins with a "Taster Day". This is an information session, as well as a meet and greet opportunity. Those attending Taster Day are invited applicants, BGCC staff, and representatives from Prince's Trust and Cineplex.
Individuals selected from Taster Day will participate in a 5 day in-class workshop, then a 20 hour work experience at the "Sunridge Spectrum Cineplex". The workshop will run over the course of a couple days. Sector-specific professional and employment skills will be covered in the workshop. Skills can range from identifying good employee traits, positive attitudes, customer service, and employment standards. The next step, after completing the workshop, is a 20 hour work experience placement. This will take place at the "Sunridge Spectrum Cineplex". Completion of the work experience opportunity may result in further employment with Cineplex.
The goal of the workshop and work placement is prepare individuals for the workforce through skills building and gaining relevant experience.
